Ford and Google set to produce autonomous car

Ford and Google could be set to join forces next year to produce a fully autonomous car.

It is expected the two companies will make an official announcement at the forthcoming CES event in Las Vegas.

Google already works with Ford on a number initiatives and it seems a logical step for the online company to continue developing its high-tech solutions. In addition, the former chief executive officer of Ford, Alan Mulally, is already a board member at Google.

A number of companies have already started to make significant progress in the autonomous car industry. With Tesla recently confirming its Autopilot technology is being extensively tested in its Model S, while Cadillac has announced it is around a year away from launching Super Cruise on its flagship CT6 sedan.

Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Lexus and BMW have all confirmed commitment to self-drive features in their future model line-up.
