Ford enjoys strong sales

Ford has seen strong sales during April, according to the latest figures.

The latest data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) shows Fords accounted for 14.3 per cent of all new registrations – 4.8 per cent higher than any other manufacturer.

Ford’s Fiesta model remains the bestselling vehicle in the country, with the Focus, Transit Custom and Kuga all appearing in the top 20 of the month.

Andy Barratt, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director, said: "SUV segments show significant growth and our EcoSport and Kuga models have been enjoying healthy sales growth, and this summer we see the new Ford Edge, our flagship SUV, arriving in dealerships.

"New product launches continue with the Fiesta ST200, the most powerful production Fiesta ever, and the S-MAX Vignale arriving in the coming months."

Overall, the month of April saw an increase of two per cent in total car sales compared to the previous year.
