Mazda reveals new CX-5

Mazda unveiled its new CX-5 in the run-up to this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show.

The revamped compact SUV has been a top selling model for the company in Europe since 2012 and could now appeal to a wider audience.

Changes to the CX-5 include two new petrol engines – the SKYACTIV-G 2.0 and SKYACTIV-G 2.5, as well as the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 diesel option.

Buyers will also benefit from a number of new onboard technologies, including a windscreen head-up display and a remote-controlled power liftgate.

Mazda has also added several premium paint colours to its range, including Soul Red Crystal which uses Mazda’s Takuminuri painting technology, claiming to give mass-production vehicles the quality and look of a hand-painted finish.

The CX-5 will go on in sale in Japan in February before being rolled out to other international markets.
