Ford targets London motorists

Automaker Ford is highlighting its scrappage scheme to those drivers living and working in the UK capital.

The Toxicity Charge in London has been launched this month and targets cars that produce high levels of emissions –
owners of such vehicles will have to pay an additional £10 of the standard congestion charge if they enter the zoned area of the city.

Therefore, Ford believes its new scheme to offer discounts on new low-emission models for those scrapping higher polluting models will appeal to drivers in London.

Ford of Britain managing director and chairman Andy Barratt said: “Removing the most polluting vehicles from our roads has the potential to transform air quality in congested urban areas. But with over 19 million such vehicles on the road, we have always campaigned for collaboration across public and private sectors.”

Discounts will be available on a range of models until the end of the year. Buyers will be able to receive up to a £7,000 discount on various Transit models, the new Fiesta, Focus, C-Max, Kuga and B-Max.
