Designed to rival Volkwagen’s prestigious Golf, the Hyundai i30 is getting a midlife facelift and upgrade, as revealed at the Geneva Motor Show.
Designed to rival Volkwagen’s prestigious Golf, the Hyundai i30 is getting a midlife facelift and upgrade, as revealed at the Geneva Motor Show. Hyundai has shown a new exterior design and mild-hybrid engine for the i30, helping to push it into the future and revitalise the model.
Looking at the exterior, it now features a wider grille that comes with a 3D pattern. The new i30 also has slimmer headlights and anew bumper design for both the five-door hatchback model and the Fastback. This gives the i30 a more luxurious look and feel going into the new decade.
The Hyundai i30 1.0 litre engine comes with 118bhp and a 48V mild-hybrid option available on both the standard manual and new seven-speed DCT automatic. You can also get the mild hybrid engine on the 134bhp 1.6-litre model as well.
Hyundai has also revealed a new N-Line only 1.5 litre model with a four-cylinder petrol engine that boasts 158bhp and can also come with the highly efficient 48v mild-hybrid engine.
For the interiors, the new i30 features a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, as well as adding a 10.25-inch touchscreen display and wireless charging for your phone. This all comes on top of Hyundai’s connected car functions and a new safety kit including Lane Following Assist, Rear Collision-Avoidance Assist and Leading vehicle Departure Alert.
These new Hyundai i30s are expected to go on sale a few months after the Geneva Motor Show, which the luxury i30 N variants becoming available shortly after.
