Ford Fiesta 1.0-litre EcoBoost ‘top choice for women’

The Ford Fiesta has beaten the Porsche Boxster S and Audi Allroad to a prestigious prize.

A new car is one of the most exciting purchases we ever get to make, but it can be hard deciding on which model to go for. Female drivers checking out the latest Ford Fiesta deals, however, may find they are drawn to the new 1.0-litre EcoBoost in particular.

This is because the vehicle has been named the overall 2013 Women's World Car of the Year, while it also picked up the Women's World Car of the Year Economy Car title.

The motor fended off stiff competition from the likes of the Porsche Boxster S, the Audi Allroad and the Range Rover, with the judging panel being especially taken with the car's look, feel and fuel efficiency.

A team of 18 female motoring writers settled on the Ford Fiesta 1.0-litre EcoBoost as its winner after marking the vehicles on various factors. These included aesthetic appearance, value for money, safety, child-friendliness, sex appeal, environmental footprint, storage space, colour and ease-of-driving.

Barb Samardzich, vice-president of product development at Ford of Europe, said: "The new Fiesta has raised the bar to offer a sharper-looking, better-connected car that is even more fuel efficient and fun-to-drive.

"By tuning into the needs of all our customers we are ensuring this small car with the big history has a very bright future."

This new Ford Fiesta boasts a number of updates on previous models of the famous car, including a striking new exterior and an interior that has been optimised to make it more comfortable than ever before.

Victoria MacMillan Bell, who sat on the judging panel, described the car as a "stylish pocket rocket" that wins in every category thanks to the combination of aesthetic appeal and the high performance ensured by the multi-award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine.

The award comes after Ford recently announced it has reached a sales milestone for its various Fiesta models, with four million now having been bought in the UK and 17 million around the world.
