The new Ford Ranger will launch with a top-of-the-range luxury Platinum Edition which blows the base model out of the water.
The Ford Ranger is receiving a new top-of-the-range trim, the American company has announced. The “Platinum Edition” will launch in tandem with the 2023 update of the highly-coveted pick-up truck, and follows in the footsteps of the Ford F-150 and Expedition Platinum Editions that transform the US trucks into high-end affairs.
The changes start on the outside with a “silk chrome” trim that wraps around the car to give it a shining appearance. Plus, the wheels have been upgraded to 20-inch alloys that are guaranteed to make you feel like the king of the road. Finally, as a finishing touch of prestige, the front grille is topped with the word ‘Platinum’ emblazoned in silver.
Inside, the Ford Ranger Platinum Edition is equipped with quilted leather seats that heat and cool to your control. It’s less of a bare-bones trucking experience and more of an indulgence, with luxury touches such as the open-grained maple wood trim, LED ambient lighting and an eight-speaker sound system courtesy of Bang & Olufsen.
The engine gives the Ford Ranger a new lease of life, powered by a new 3.0L V6 diesel that produces 60 Nm of torque and 237bhp. This increases the towing capacity from the regular Ford Ranger to 3.5 tonnes and is controlled by a permanent all-wheel drive system. To improve noise and vibration reduction, the new Ranger Platinum Edition has tinkered with its 10-speed automatic transmission in the name of driver comfort.
