Suzuki’s supermini, the Ignis, has been a staple on the roads of the United Kingdom since it was first launched.

Suzuki’s supermini, the Ignis, has been a staple on the roads of the United Kingdom since it was first launched. However, that also meant that it was becoming somewhat stale and outdated. The Japanese firm has realised that and given the Ignis a makeover, turning it into a rugged little city car that is now available to order!

The New Suzuki Ignis 2020

A mid-life facelift can often reinvigorate a car, giving it a whole new lease of life. That is exactly what has happened with the Suzuki Ignis, sporting subtle yet significant tweaks to the bodywork and design. On top of this, it has also gained a mild hybrid powertrain as well and is available to order and purchase from just £13,999.

In total, there are three different trim levels that Suzuki have made available. The first of these, the entry level SZ3, already offers a bunch of equipment; air conditioning, a DAB radio that features Bluetooth connectivity, LED headlights and privacy glass on the rear windows. But, if you want a little be more, the follow is a breakdown of the two other trim levels;

  • The mid-range SZ-T adds;

    • A rear-view camera

    • Rear seats that can be individually adjusted

    • 16 inch alloy wheels

    • Widened wheel arches

    • Smartphone compatibility

  • The top-tier SZ5 features;

    • Integrated sat nav

    • Keyless entry and locking

    • Electric windows in the rear

    • A lane departure warning system

    • A weaving alert

    • Plus other safety features

The Mild Hybrid Ignis

As well as all of the features listed above, the Suzuki Ignis 2020 also features a new mild hybrid 1.2 litre four cylinder engine. There is also the option to add a CVT gearbox as well.

This new engine comes with an uprated injection system, cooling jets for the pistons and more, all designed to make it run as smoothly as possible, no matter where you go. This helps to make the Ignis 2020 an excellent city car or runabout.

Finally, for those of you who want a bit more excitement out of your city car, the Suzuki Ignis SZ5 has the option for permanent four wheel drive. This means that you can take your car and have some fun on the dirt roads and in the countryside, before easily and safely driving back through the city to pick up your weekly shopping.

All of this comes with a largely unchanged interior, with the exception of a modified dashboard and instrument panel. Therefore, you still get the joy and comfort that the Suzuki Ignis is known for, but with a heap of added features and improvements.

If you are thinking of getting your hands on a Suzuki Ignis, now might very well be the perfect time. But, if you can’t afford to get the new facelift Ignis outright, you can always take a look through our car lease deals to see if there is one that better suits your budget.
