All-New Ford Mustang Hitting the UK in 2023

All-New Ford Mustang Hitting the UK in 2023

The iconic Ford Mustang retains its V8 power but makes sweeping changes to its tech and styling.

Ford unveiled the all-new Generation VI Mustang at the 2022 Detroit Motor Show.

The world’s best-selling sports coupe retains its V8 power but makes sweeping changes to its tech and styling, and will be available in the UK from late 2023.

Ford’s legendary muscle car will come in coupe and convertible forms and features a revised look that aims for more advanced technology and luxury than ever before. The topmost improvement is the brand-new 12.4-inch digital dash that joins seamlessly with a 13.2-inch central console that acts as Ford’s dedicated infotainment system. “We’re taking advantage of every pixel,” says Craig Sandvig, the Ford Mustang interaction design manager.

The new Ford infotainment system replaces the previous generation Mustang’s double-brow dashboard design, and the new digital dash is fully customisable. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity come as standard, as well as wireless phone charging, over-the-air software upgrades and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo system. Ford states the car’s freshly-designed cockpit is the most driver-focused it’s ever been, and it’s certainly the most performance-focused. With sporty leather seats and a thicker-rimmed racing-inspired steering wheel, the new Ford Mustang looks to be worthy of its iconic name.

The Mustang’s new 5.0L V8 engine produces an almighty 450bhp and 500Nm of torque. Alongside the new dual air intake design, the engine also features dual throttle bodies split between each cylinder bank.

The power upgrade is matched by the new “edgier” visuals, as Ford describes them. While the size and proportions remain the same, the car’s design details are much sharper and more menacing. The first aspect you’ll notice is the daring bonnet design, made with slimmer LED headlights and dual air intakes in the front grille which improves performance. The car stands on 19-inch alloy wheels that look like black crystal, and at the back, the well-known three-stripe tail lights have been given a more angular redesign, allowing the Mustang to truly own its character.

Behind the scenes, the new Mustang comes with rear-wheel drive and either a six-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic gearbox. The six-speed manual Mustang GT model includes a rev-matching function for the technical drivers out there. With improvements for every type of driver, the new Ford Mustang looks to be a game-changing comeback for the 60-year-old car when it releases at the end of 2023.
