While it was no surprise to see fuel prices increase in the Budget on Wednesday (March 21st), it will no doubt rile the majority of UK drivers.
But luckily Ford deals have become even more fuel efficient, meaning you could save money despite the fuel hike.
The car manufacturer will put smiles on a few faces after announcing that the new Ford Fiesta could run at over 85mpg.
Now on sale, the Ford Fiesta ECOnetic model has a diesel fuel economy of 85.6mpg and boasts emissions of just 87g CO2/km.
This means that motorists can avoid paying out for road tax and the London Congestion Charge.
The new fuel efficiencies are a significant improvement just on the last six years. In 2006 the Ford Fiesta was capable of only 65.1mpg.
But even that was better than the Focus and Mondeo, which achieved fuel economy of 51.4mpg and 44.1mpg respectively.
New Mondeos are capable of turning over 65.6mpg now, while the Focus ECOnetic offers 83.1mpg – a marked improvement.
"We cannot influence how the cost of motoring changes as a result of [the] Budget, but we will continue to design, develop and market innovative vehicles that minimise the cost of motoring for today's families," pledged Mark Ovenden, Ford Britain managing director.
"Our cars are fun to drive, stylish and packed with technology, while returning up to 20mpg more than just a few years ago."
The petrol Ford Focus 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine is now capable of 58.9mpg too, unsurprisingly less fuel efficient than the diesel models but still economical for a petrol car.
Ford is undergoing a successful period. As well as unveiling eco-friendly engines, the Ford Fiesta and Ford Mondeo have both recently won awards.
At the 2012 CarBuyer Car of the Year awards, the Fiesta was named Best Small Car, while the bigger Mondeo was applauded as Best Large Family Car 2012.
