London's mayor Boris Johnson was given the opportunity to get close to the brand new Citroen Zero.
Motorists looking for environmentally-friendly Citroen deals will be interested to hear that the C-Zero will be a major factor in helping London become the "electric car capital of the world".
Source London, the first ever city-wide electric vehicle charging network, will be launched this spring in a bid to improve the infrastructure offered to early adopters of electric cars.
At present there are more than 250 charge points across the capital, which Source London has committed to expanding to at least 1,300 publicly accessible points by 2013.
Boris Johnson said: "Through the development of Source London we are seeking to create the fertile conditions for electric vehicles to flourish, to make our city the electric driving capital of Europe."
Linda Jackson, managing director of Citroen UK, said that C-Zero is perfectly placed to demonstrate the benefits of electric vehicles, with zero emissions, zero company car tax and no congestion charges.
Fourteen motorists in the north-east recently took delivery of new Nissan LEAF electric cars as part of a six month test programme, designed to monitor the benefits of electric vehicles.
