Motorists looking for Ford deals will be delighted to hear that the manufacturer is striving to reduce the weight of its vehicles to increase fuel efficiency.
This time, the engineers have taken inspiration from the Aero bar, and introduced a process which injects gas bubbles into plastic parts during manufacturing.
The bubbles reduce the weight of the parts by around 20 per cent without sacrificing strength, integrity, durability or function.
Weight plays a key role in vehicle emissions and reducing the overall mass of the vehicle results in improvements to fuel economy and carbon emissions meaning Ford drivers receive the benefits in the pockets.
Ford's MuCell technology also lowers the pressures used to mould the plastic and allows the manufacturer to make 33 per cent more parts per hour than a conventional process.
MuCell technology expert Carsten Starke said: "We are saving weight in many ways, not just by using this new plastic, because lighter cars handle better, accelerate faster and stop more quickly."
Ford has made a number of advances in technology in recent months with the introduction of the EcoBoost engine, stop-start technology, aerodynamic grille shutters and low rolling tyre resistance.
