Citroen C1 takes top score in Which? reliability rankings

Citroen’s supermini C1 has excelled in the Which? Car Guide 2014/15 awards, scooping top spot for reliability.

Citroen's C1 has been named the most reliable car up to three years old in a prestigious motoring guide.

The first generation of the French manufacturer's city car scooped the award in the Which? Car Guide 2014/15 and also came out on top for reliability in the supermini category.

In addition, the C1 secured the top spot for reliability of all the models surveyed by the consumer group.

The model scored 99.3 per cent in the category for vehicles up to three years old. In the supermini category, C1 owners reported that they had spent no time off the road and that the average cost of any repairs was just 49p.

Citroen UK's communications director James Parfett said he is hopeful that the second-generation model will achieve and surpass the lofty standards set by its predecessor.

"The C1 has proved a very successful model, selling more than 780,000 worldwide since launching in 2005. It's brilliant to hear that owners continue to report a positive experience with their cars and we believe that the new C1 will continue to build on that reputation of providing reliable, accessible and enjoyable motoring," he commented.

Citroen's new C1 officially went on sale in the UK on July 1st, priced from
£7,995.

Customers can opt for two-tone colour versions of the vehicle, while a convertible model is also in the pipeline and is called the Citroen C1 Airscape. Citroen is giving customers a choice between three and five doors in the hard-top version and the company claims that both options are compact, agile, comfortable and ergonomically pleasing.

The second-generation model also boasts some state-of-the-art technology including keyless entry and start technology as well as a reversing camera to make parking a much simpler and safer process.

In addition, buyers can also opt for a seven-inch Touch Drive interface Mirror Screen and many more gadgets and gizmos in the cabin.

The car is environmentally-aware as well, with Citroen claiming CO2 emissions of 88g CO2/km.
