As part of the new line-up of performance models born from the VW group, as always, the Golf GTI is shrouded in expectation. With an exciting technological leap inside, the Golf GTI in 2020 cleverly injects modernity into the signature Golf classic design.

Features Of The New GTI

While the tartan upholstery and gold ball gear shift remain, two high-tech digital screens now form the control panel, which lurches the Golf GTI well into the 2020s. The flat-bottomed steering wheel is laden with touch controls.

VW loads the Golf with ambient interior lighting as standard, meanwhile, the car’s technology includes Car2X networking; it will communicate with other moving cars for live traffic updates. In addition, the GTI will inherit tech from the Mk8 Golf Hatchback including Amazon Alexa Voice Assist, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Finally, Golf GTI drivers will benefit from lane assist, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and pedestrian detection.

The exterior features of the GTI make it appear more fierce, with a honeycomb lower grille, and the use of LEDs to shape the fog lights into a cross. LED headlights and daytime running lights are a standard attribute, customers also have the option of a full LED lightbar spanning the width of the radiator grille.

The rear of the Golf GTI is equally as beefy looking, with a new spoiler, diffuser and twin exhaust. The sills are painted black, which produces a striking contrast to the trademark red paint job.

Release Of The Golf GTI In 2020

The new Golf GTI will be released mid-2020 and is suspected to have a starting price of around £31,000. For a 242bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine-propelled classic performance hatchback, this is a steal.
