Electric Hyundai IONIQ goes on sale

Hyundai has officially released its latest IONIQ electric and hybrid vehicles to the UK market.

The car is the first to be offered with three different electrified powertrain options on one platform and signals the automaker’s desire to move forwards in the hybrid market. Hyundai is planning to release 28 alternative fuel models by 2020.

Prices for the IONIQ Hybrid will start at £19,995, while the Electric option is available from £24,495.

Tony Whitehorn, president and chief executive officer at Hyundai Motor UK said: “We have listened to our customers and we have responded with a full portfolio of electrified models, making low- to zero-emission mobility more accessible to more people.

He added: “Hyundai’s innovative approach delivers an uncompromising design and driving experience, the latest connectivity and safety features with an enhanced industry-leading warranty-package.”
