Europe’s first Ford Mustang to be unveiled soon

Ford has announced the sixth generation of its iconic Ford Mustang car, which will be the first to be released in Europe.

The sixth-generation car will be unveiled worldwide across four continents and six cities as part of the release on December 5th. Barcelona, one of the six cities, will host a special 'Go Further' event which will reveal the company's new vehicles to anyone interested in new car deals, as well as technologies which will give an insight into Ford's future plans in Europe.

Ford plans to use social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram to promote the launch and enable fans to reminisce about the history of the Mustang. The company will also share an original #MustangInspires video every day on its website up until the release date on December 5th.

Jim Farley, Ford global vice-president of marketing, sales and service said: "Mustang has come to be much more than just a car for its legions of fans…When you experience Mustang, it ignites a sense of optimism and independence that inspires us all."

Ford will celebrate 50 years of car production next April. It held its inaugural simultaneous international product launch in April 1964 to unveil the first Mustang in New York and 11 European capitals.

Mr Farley boasted that since its initial release, the car has "become embedded in popular culture, with thousands of appearances in film, television, music and video games – and more than 600 owner clubs around the world".

The 'Go Further' event in Barcelona will be hosted by the president of Ford of Europe, Middle East and Africa, Stephen Odell, along with top members of the global and European executive team. Ford fans from around the world can watch it being streamed live from 14.00 GMT at www.gofurtherlive.com.

Mr Farley said that with a new design, greater refinement, performance and innovative new technologies, the company was looking forward to the next 50 years of Mustang production.
