Fiat 500 proves a hit

More than a quarter of a million Fiat 500s have now been sold, according to the latest figures.

Launched in December 2007, the car boasts 257,794 registrations and continues to be one of Fiat’s top selling models.

The model underwent a makeover in 2015 to offer more in-car technology upgrades, as well as some subtle exterior changes and remains a top choice for those looking for a city car.

Fiat recently confirmed plans to expand the range with the introduction of the Fiat 500S – that will offer buyers a sportier option.

Sebastiano Fedrigo, country manager at Fiat UK, explained the 500 has always been a popular choice in the UK.

He added: "Our designers and engineers have worked hard to keep the car fresh and exciting in terms of engines, technologies, colours, personalisation options and styling while respecting the basic elements that have always made the car so appealing to a broad spectrum of buyers looking for a high-quality, affordable and utterly chic city car.

"With more improvements on the way soon, we’re looking forward to the amazing FIAT 500 reaching its next sales milestone in the not-too-distant future."
