Fiat Doblo Cargo retains Light Van of the Year award

Fiat Professional has cemented its position at the forefront of the light commercial vehicle industry by scooping another award.

It was announced yesterday (December 4th) that the manufacturer's widely-acclaimed Doblo Cargo model has won the prestigious Light Van of the Year gong at the What Van? Awards for the third year in a row.

Following the unveiling of the winners in the 2013 version of the ceremony, the reasons for the Doblo Cargo – which was launched in Britain back in March 2010 – remaining at the top of the tree were revealed.

The judging panel at What? Van praised the model's all-round credentials and cited its combination of versatility, economy, driveability and practicality as the main factor behind its continued success.

For instance, the vehicle has a large capacity for both size and weight and also features Euro 5-compliant engines to keep emissions and fuel costs down.

Paul Barker, editor of What? Van, explained Fiat's latest victory in this category was "entirely deserved", even though the light van market is highly competitive.

"Fiat's Doblo Cargo remains the most appealing light van in the market, combining good value with class-leading ride and handling and a range of efficient diesel engines, as well as a versatile line-up of models," he added.

Meanwhile, Sebastiano Fedrigo, director of Fiat Professional UK, said the model continues to impress both experts and consumers and the fact it has now received What? Van's accolade for three years in succession is a "further testimony to the all-round qualities of this excellent vehicle".

"We have further enhanced the Doblo Cargo range with the recent introduction of the Doblo Work Up and Doblo XL versions to offer even more choice for our valued customers," he noted.
