Fiat SpA recognised for climate change stance

Fiat SpA has been recognised for its ongoing commitment to tackling climate change.

According to the CDP Italy 100 Climate Change Report 2012, which is published by Accenture SpA and CDP, the carmaker has been admitted to the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index and the Carbon Performance Leadership Index.

The news comes after the manufacturer was recently reconfirmed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World and Europe and places it among the global leaders with regard to environmentally friendly practices.

Fiat was given 95 out of 100 for transparency in disclosure – the highest score handed out – while it also received the maximum A grade for its efforts in reducing carbon emissions.

The company noted these high scores serve as confirmation of the fact reducing environmental impact is a central theme of the group's overall business strategy.

In addition, Fiat was also recognised for the fifth year in a row in 2011 for having the lowest average CO2 emissions among Europe's biggest brands.
