Ford earns vehicle dynamics awards

Ford has enjoyed a successful time at the 2013 Vehicle Dynamics International Awards, coming away with two prizes on the night.

The carmaker was victorious in the Dynamics Team of the Year and Dynamicist of the Year categories, with the judging panel made up of automotive journalists from around the world.

Ford's vehicle dynamics department scooped the team prize thanks to its development of various models, including the Kuga, B-MAX, Fiesta ST and Focus ST, while the individual accolade was taken home by Ford Team RS vehicle dynamics specialist David Put for his efforts in the production of the Fiesta ST and Focus ST.

The team was praised for its achievements across all different segments, with the jury applauding the vehicles for their subtlety, responsiveness and overall driving experience.

Mr Put was heralded for the steering feel and precision improvements he brought to the manufacturer's development efforts.

Those in the market for a new car and checking out the latest Ford deals may therefore be drawn to these vehicles, which were described by the panel as "an absolute pleasure to drive".

Graham Heeps, editor at Vehicle Dynamics International, said: "Ford has put ride and handling at the heart of vehicle development for many years now, regardless of whether the car is a practical multi-purpose vehicle or a desirable hot-hatch."

Mr Heeps explained journalists deciding on the winners are drawn from 19 countries around the world, which suggests Ford's approach to vehicle dynamics is having the desired effect in markets across the globe.

Yves Maroselli of Le Figaro, France, who was part of the judging panel, claimed Mr Put has got everything spot on with regard to the Focus ST, stating: "Soft enough for a day-to-day ride, the damping can cope with high speed driving on bumpy roads while the balance of the car appears very enjoyable."

Ford recently triumphed at the Fleet News Awards, with prizes won in the categories of Green Fleet Manufacturer, Most Improved Fleet Manufacturer and Best Small Car for the Ford Fiesta.
