Ford Econetic models drive improvements in fuel efficiency

Drivers looking for Ford deals will be delighted to hear that the manufacturer is further accelerating its efforts to deliver improved fuel economy for its customers.

Ford has unveiled the new Mondeo Econetic and the Ford Ka TDCi with standard Auto-Start-Stop technology at the Paris Motor Show adding to the company's drive towards lower CO2 emissions.

The new Ford Mondeo Econetic features a specially calibrated 115PS version of the 1.6 litre Ford Duratorq TDCi engine equipped with a standard diesel particulate filter and coupled to a Ford Durashift six speed manual transmission.

Ford's Auto-Start-Stop system can reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions which will save on fuel costs and also tax. In an urban environment with frequent stops, the savings could increase to as much as ten per cent.

The Ford Ka has also become more efficient by using the new technology, which will be equipped as standard from November 2010.

Earlier this year Ford introduced its new range of Ford EcoBoost turbo-charged direct injection petrol engines as well as significantly improved and new versions of its powerful Duratorq TDCi diesel engine.
