A survey of the top 50 largest contract hire companies carried out by a leading industry publication has named the Ford Transit as the most reliable commercial vehicle.
Those looking for Ford deals will be interested that the poll also named Ford as the manufacturer of the most reliable vans.
The FN50, published in Fleet News, revealed that the Ford Transit beat off strong competition from the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and its fellow Ford Transit Connect to take top spot.
Fleet News editor Stephen Briers said: "Businesses that depend on vehicles take reliability very seriously, and can’t afford downtime through breakdowns that incur extra costs."
He added that the survey is the largest of its kind and any vehicles placing in the top ten of any category represent a safe bet for any organisation or private motorist.
Results of the magazine's car reliability survey were also published with the Sunderland built Nissan Qashqai, just missing out on a top three place, finishing in fourth.
