Hyundai is launching a limited-edition SUV to celebrate a recent exhibition by the great grandson of Shackleton.
Patrick Bergel used a Hyundai to drive in the Antarctica from Union Camp to McMurdo and back again to mark the 100-year anniversary of Shackleton’s Trans-Antarctic expedition of 1914-16.
The Santa Fe Endurance is based on the seven-seat Premium SE 2-litre diesel and just 500 units are going to be made.
Buyers will be able to select from five different colours – solid Creamy White, pearl White Crystal, metallic Titanium Silver, pearl Phantom Black and metallic Mineral Blue.
Each vehicle has been is fitted with the latest safety features such as autonomous emergency braking, around view monitor and smart cruise control.

As Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Great Grandson, Patrick Bergel proved just a few months ago, with just a few choice modifications, you could even traverse Antarctica!”
The Endurance is available to order from next month and will cost £38,995.
