Kia celebrates 20th UK anniversary

Drivers of Kia vehicles may be astonished to hear that the manufacturer has reached its 20th year selling vehicles in the UK.

The Kia Pride was the first model to hit the UK market in 1991, selling just 1,786 models in its first year.

But things have changed in the last 20 years and Kia is now a well respected member of the UK car market, achieving its best ever year in 2010 with sales of 56,114.

Recent models such as the Kia cee'd, along with the manufacturer's industry-leading seven year warranty, have built the South Korean firm a reputation for quality and reliability.

Michael Cole, managing director of Kia Motors (UK) Limited, said the firm had been on a "phenomenal journey" in recent years.

"In less than two decades we've certainly lived up to our 'Power to Surprise' slogan by growing from a relatively small importer to challenging the best and most established brands in the industry," he added.

Motorists looking for new Kia deals will be delighted to hear that the manufacturer is preparing to launch the Kia Optima later in the year after successfully introducing the all new Kia Picanto and the Rio.
