Kia to help BFBS at skiing event

Kia Motors is to lend a helping hand to the British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) at the 2013 Inter Services Skiing and Snowboarding Championships in France.

The manufacturer said it is proud to be supporting the organisation and has provided a top-specification Kia Sportage 2.0 CRDi KX-4 to ensure sports producer Jon Knighton and BFBS sports reporter Cath Brazier are kept mobile at the event.

Mr Knighton and Ms Brazier will use the vehicle for the 12-hour ride to Meribel and to transport them around the venue for the five days of the spectacle.

The car could prove the ideal vehicle for the BFBS – which has broadcast to the military in the UK for almost 70 years – over such a terrain and might encourage others to seek the best Kia deals when heading spending long periods of time in these types of places.

More than 200 members of the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force are to compete in the championships. A high standard of competition is expected at the event, where participants will be looking to win skiing, snowboarding and Telemark races.

Mr Knighton said: "This is a great forces sporting event and I'm delighted and very grateful to Kia for giving us the means to get our team and all our equipment, which includes cameras, microphones and radio broadcast and computer equipment, to the slopes."

He explained getting to the French Alps can be very difficult without a capable 4×4 model, while a decent car is required to take the duo to the places where filming is to take place.

The sports producer described the Kia model as great, adding: "It will help us help cover this event for the British Forces, who deserve our support in all the things they do."

Last month, Kia unveiled a new marketing campaign for 2013 that placed emphasis on customer reviews in order to boost the public's perception of the brand.
