Mahindra launch e2o in the UK

Indian automaker Mahindra has confirmed the e2o electric car is now available in the UK.

The three-door hatchback could be set to rival the Renault Twizy and the Nissan Leaf as demand for eco-friendly vehicles continues to increase.

Aimed at the urban commuter, the car will be delivered in May and prices start at £12,995. This is significantly higher than the Indian version of the e2o, but it is understood the UK version will feature a larger battery, upgraded interior trim and additional safety equipment.

According to figures from Mahindra, a driver doing the UK average of 7,900 miles per year and charging the car at home at night on an Economy 7 tariff will spend less than £10 a month on fuel if they opt for the e2o.

Mahindra chairman Anand Mahindra is hoping people will give the new car a test drive and discover more about its potential.

The chair added: “Sustainability is at the heart of Mahindra’s business practices, and with the introduction of the e2o to the UK market, we are offering a product that perfectly encapsulates our corporate philosophy.”
