Marathon success for Ford Fiesta ECOnetic

The Ford Fiesta ECOnetic 1.6 TDCi has impressed during its run out in the 2012 ALD Automotive / Shell FuelSave MPG Marathon.

In challenging weather conditions, the vehicle ran up 108.78 mpg over the 370-mile route – and the carmaker said the achievement shows that the cost of maintaining a family motor can be reduced via smarter driving.

Those looking for the best Ford Fiesta deals might therefore be interested in a vehicle that offers high performance and is cost-effective.

Ross Durkin, organiser of the event, explained the MPG Marathon is designed to be representative of everyday driving.

Mr Durkin stated: "The route is meticulously planned and all cars taking part in the event are fitted with Tracker satellite tracking technology to ensure that all drivers follow the prescribed course."

Former rally stars Andy Dawson and Andrew Marriott were behind the wheel of the Fiesta ECOnetic and were one of two teams to beat the 100 mpg barrier.
