Mazda MX-5 to enter British Endurance Championship 2011

People looking for brand new Mazda deals may be interested to hear that the manufacturer is set to pit its wits against Aston Martin, Porsche, Lotus and BMW with its lightweight MX-5.

The car will go up against its rivals in the Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship 2011.

Mazda's brand new MX-5 weighs just 850kg and can accelerate from a standing start to 60mph in just three seconds and can reach a top speed of 160mph.

According to the manufacturer, the new MX-5 remains true to its roots; "great handling, huge fun-to-drive and the ability to challenge bigger, more powerful competition, at an affordable cost".

This is the fourth time that Mazda has entered Britcar and this year the Mazda MX-5 GT car will be driven by two Mazda works drivers; experienced racing driver Mark Ticehurst and Auto Express journalist and racing driver Owen Mildenhall.

The Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship is contested over nine races from March to November and begins with a three hour endurance race at Silverstone.
