Mazda proves its efficiency

Motorists looking for Mazda3 deals will be interested to hear that the hatchback once again performed well in the Fleet World/ALD Automotive/Total Eco 10 MPG Marathon.

The gruelling two-day 400 mile efficiency test, which was split into three stages per day, began in Warickshire and combined town and country driving with a particularly testing section through the Welsh hills.

Reg Burnard, who drove the Mazda3 in the marathon, said he was delighted with the performance of the car, which travelled an average of 40.31 miles per gallon.

He added: "We know from the previous results achieved by Mazda's hottest hatchback model that its frugal use of petrol is something that can be attained by almost any driver."

Mazda revealed a number of eco-driving tips for motorists looking to get the most mileage out of their cars, which included avoiding harsh acceleration and braking, making better use of higher gears and driving smoothly and progressively.

The car manufacturer was celebrating recently as it MX-5 earned a place in the record books as 459 MX-5's formed the longest continuous parade of motor vehicles at the grounds of the Unesco Zollverein World Heritage site in Essen.
