Mazda is increasingly taking its concept cars onto the road, with its production vehicles closely resembling their initial designs.
The carmaker has noted its KODO-Soul of Motion ethos has resulted in the latest ideas being transported from the show stand and out into the real world.
Peter Birtwhistle, European chief designer at Mazda, noted the positive response enjoyed by the new Mazda6, which was displayed at last month's Moscow Motorshow, has been down to its similarity to the Takeri design concept.
The trend suggests those searching for the latest Mazda deals are likely to come away with a motor that looks just how it was intended.
Mr Birtwhistle explained the brand's ethos is leading to concept cars being driven from the stand and onto the road, noting recent design studies carried out by the group reveal just how closely the production models resemble the original ideas.
He pointed to the aesthetics of the CX-5, which looked very similar to the "proportions, stance and detailing" of the Minagi concept vehicle first seen at the Geneva Motorshow last year.
Following a similar route, the expert noted the Takeri was undoubtedly the inspiration for the new Mazda6, explaining people can see just how much the two look the same when they view them side by side.
Mazda observed it is important for the company to come up with a production vehicle that closely resembles the concept ideas, as the teaser examples act as a valuable gauge with regard to how the media and general public will react to the ideas.
Mr Birtwhistle stated: "While some manufacturers tend to heavily camouflage their teaser show cars – creating a coupé concept when in reality the production version will be a five-door hatch – we took the decision with Takeri to base it as closely as possible on the final production car."
He explained that although the Takeri is slightly lower, longer and wider than the Mazda6, the stance and proportions of the two vehicles are almost identical.
