New Fiat compact makes debut

The new Fiat Aegea has made its debut at the Istanbul motor show and is expected to on sale in the UK shortly.

Fiat has produced a compact sedan which it describes as a three-volume car, rather than a hatchback with a boot.

With a 2.64 metre wheelbase, the Aegea can carry five passengers and has a load capacity of 510 litres.

There are a number of engines available including two MultiJet II turbo-diesel engines and two petrol units with power outputs of between 95 and 120 hp.

Buyers can choose from manual and automatic transmissions. For those looking for fuel-efficiency, the diesel engine offers around 70 mpg.

Interior wise, the model is fitted with the FIAT Chrysler Automobiles' Uconnect infotainment system that has a five-inch touch screen and is capable of hands-free bluetooth calling with audio streaming.

The Aegea will initially go on sale in Turkey before being sold in 40 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
