Ford deals are set to get even safer as innovative safety technology makes its way into the compact B-MAX.
Active City Stop helps prevent or reduce the severity of collisions in stationary or slow-moving traffic by monitoring traffic up ahead and applying the brakes automatically if it senses a collision.
The technology was used in the Ford Focus for the first time last year but has now been launched for the B-MAX models to make city driving even safer.
"Low speed front-to-rear collisions are one of the most common accidents in urban traffic," said Roland Schaefer, safety analyst for Ford of Europe.
"You don't have to be travelling fast to get injured. Even at speeds of just 10mph you can suffer soft tissue neck injury."
The B-MAX will be the first compact car to have the system in place, making Ford deals much safer.
Awarded an Advanced reward by Euro NCAP in 2011, Active City Stop can completely prevent an accident up to speeds of 10mph and reduce the severity of collisions at 18mph.
Other safety features in the B-MAX include the Hill Launch Assist, which prevents the car rolling backwards during parking or hill starts, and a rear view camera to help avoid parking collisions.
"These technologies, coupled with B-MAX's compact chassis, and tight turning circle supported by carefully tuned electronic power-assisted steering, enable B-MAX to be far greater prepared for the demands of even the most congested city," said Joerg Beyer, Ford vehicle line director.
Ford has hit the headlines for other good reasons this week, with the Ford Fiesta named as Diesel Car Magazine's Used Car of the Year 2012 and Best Small Car.
The Ford Mondeo was also named as Best Large Car by the publication, showing that the manufacturer has something for every type of motorist.
