Volvo has revealed all on the new V60, due to arrive this July.
Leasing prices for the 3 Series rival haven’t appeared yet, but on-the-road prices will start from £31,810, with a choice of three engines.
It’s easy to see why the estate version of the S60 chimes with company car drivers and it will retain that fleet appeal by being offered with a choice of two efficient front-wheel-drive diesel engines: the 148bhp D3 or the 187bhp D4, mated to a six-speed manual or eight-speed auto transmission.
Oddly, Volvo has announced diesels won’t be offered in the S60 or V60 after this generation as the brand focuses on hybrids and electric cars.
By 2025, it hopes that fully electric vehicles will make up half of its global sales by 2025 – this despite not actually having any all-electric models on sale right now.
Meanwhile, petrol buyers will be able to opt for the 246bhp T5 petrol, coming linked exclusively to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. A second petrol engine and a pair of petrol-electric plug-in hybrid options will join the lineup over the next 12 months.

Equipment is split over four trims: Momentum and Inscription, accompanied by more heavily specced Pro versions of each trim. These will be joined by the sport-themed R-Design and rugged Cross Country variants at a later date.
Every new V60 comes with a decent amount of equipment as standard, with entry-level Momentum models boasting LED headlights, a powered tailgate, two-zone climate control with ‘CleanZone’ air-quality system, a 12.3-inch driver’s information display and rear parking sensors.
Safety is a priority as always with plenty of cutting-edge safety aids packed into the V60, such as city safety, which automatically slams on the brakes if sensors detect a pedestrian, cyclist or large animal in a bid to avoid a collision.
