Nissan extends scrappage scheme

Drivers who are looking for new Nissan Qashqai deals will be able to continue taking advantage of a car scrappage scheme once it officially closes.

The Japanese carmaker has announced it is to offer people who own cars that are more than seven years old at least £2,000 off the price of a British-built Nissan to trade in their vehicle.

Drivers will therefore be able to take advantage of new Nissan Qashqai deals, as the car is produced at the manufacturer’s plant in Sunderland.

Commenting on the scheme’s extension, Paul Willcox, managing director of Nissan GB, said: “We hope that by extending our scheme we can sustain the positive results seen to date and continue to support the British economy.”

The announcement from Nissan comes after Kia recently said it will run a similar scheme, with motorists able to save up to £2,000 from the list price of one of its vehicles, such as the Soul, if they trade in a car more than seven years old.
