Nissan gets 1m ‘turning on’ to electric cars

Car manufacturer Nissan has succeeded in its determined campaign to try to get one million people 'turned on' to electric cars ahead of the target time.

The campaign asked motorists in France, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK to consider the positives of emission-free driving in an electric car, while promoting Nissan deals for the LEAF.

Whichever city in the four countries has the most people 'turned on' to electric cars will be provided with 30 Nissan Quick Chargers, and the person who encourages the most other individuals to turn on will get given the 100 per cent electric LEAF.

"We are delighted to have hit one million ‘turn ons' ahead of schedule," said Paul Willcox, senior vice president for sales and marketing, Nissan in Europe.

"It shows that more and more people are realising that cars like Nissan LEAF are a real alternative. While Nissan might have reached its target early, The Big Turn On will continue to spread the word about the 100 per cent electric LEAF."

The campaign is 15 days ahead of schedule. It had originally hoped to achieve the one million mark in 100 days.
