Nissan unveils new NV200 model

Nissan has revealed the latest addition to its range of impressive models, with the launch of a new version of the Nissan NV200 London Taxi.

The current version of the cab is already used by as many as 300,000 people on a daily basis, carrying people around one of the world's biggest cities in some style.

But according to the manufacturer, the updated Nissan NV200 is substantially more energy efficient than the model it replaces.

Nissan, one of the world's leading manufacturers, explained that the new vehicle is designed to meet the Air Quality Strategy for London, which is a key policy of London Mayor Boris Johnson.

The launch of the new vehicle has been welcomed by a number of leading industry figures, including Steve McNamara, the general secretary of the Licensed Taxi Drivers’ Association.

"Nissan already has a great footing in the London taxi market – the 2.7-litre diesel that featured in some of the early taxis was one of the greatest engines ever put in a cab.

"From what I’ve seen of the 200 London Taxi," Mr McNamara explained, "it ticks all the right boxes. It’s important that it looks like a cab, is comfortable with good ingress and egress and is reliable. If the fuel consumption figures are as promised, it will be a big seller."

Nissan, meanwhile, explained that the impressive new vehicle has purposefully designed for the benefit of passengers and other people on the road.

In particular, the manufacturer said that the NV2000 has been designed in a way that makes it a more comfortable vehicle for passengers with mobility problems.

Indeed, Assist UK, which strives to improve the lives of people with mobility issues, said that it is proud to be associated with Nissan.

"The work is ongoing and future refinements are planned after the initial launch, as many ideas have been discussed and are currently undergoing development," Alan Norton, from Assist UK, added.
