Demand for the new Ford Focus RS has reached 1,500 orders before the car has even been tested as it proves popular with fans.
The new model will offer the fastest acceleration of any Focus due to the updated 2.3 litre EcoBoost engine which produces 350 PS.
It also features an array of equipment as standard, including 19-inch multispoke alloy wheels, 350 mm ventilated front disc brakes, twin high-performance exhaust, Bi-Xenon headlamps, Recaro front seats, dual-zone electronic temperature control and a Thatcham Category 1 alarm system.
Buyers will be able to choose from five different colour options, including an eye-catching metallic.
Ford Focus fans who have already placed their order can expect delivery of the car by spring next year.
"These enthusiasts are taking great care in building their optimum specification," said Andy Barratt, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director.
"We expected those first in the queue, many of whom are owners of previous RS models, to be exacting about their requirements, and so it has proved."
