Peugeot 3008 Overview

Peugeot 3008

In this review…

Now seen as one of the best cars in a highly-competitive class, the new Peugeot 3008 offers drivers comfort and reliability with every drive.

When the new Peugeot 3008 was remodelled as a fully-fledged SUV instead of a high-riding MPV, the French carmaker blessed it with upgrades across the board. Now seen as one of the best cars in the highly-competitive class, the new Peugeot 3008 offers drivers comfort, reliability and a splash of luxury with every drive.

Peugeot really has pulled out all the stops with the latest 3008 facelift. When Peugeot released the original 3008, it almost seemed like a clumsy attempt to rival popular models such as the Nissan Qashqai and VW Tiguan. Of course, as many of us will remember, it was a rather frugal attempt. But in 2016, the Peugeot 3008 spearheaded a new look, replacing the pudgy 3008 MPV with a good-looking SUV that’s since become the best-selling car in its class across Europe.

As far as SUVs go, the new Peugeot 3008 is one of the most glamorous in the category. Its overall design, build quality and interior practicality has improved in every way and now surpasses even the most premium rivals.

But don’t take our word for it. Let’s take a closer look at what the Peugeot 3008 offers and help you find the perfect lease at cars2buy.

The Body, Interior Layout and Finish

The Peugeot 3008 is truly striking from the outside, and the facelift has brought a new frameless grille similar to that of the popular 508 saloons. The facelift also features some rather aggressive lights at the front and rear that pair with slots in the front wings perfectly.

In place of the two-tone colour scheme that many recognise from the 308 GTI hot hatch is a brand-new ‘Black Pack’ styling option that just adds to the overall newer and bolder SUV styling.

Thankfully, the bold upgrades did nothing to diminish the car’s classy interior. The interior is a familiar sight compared with the old Peugeot 3008 and boasts one of the most interesting-looking cabins of any SUV. A combination of tidy attention to detail and high-quality materials give the Peugeot 3008 an upmarket feel without the price. In front of the driver remains a bright and modern 12-inch digital driver’s display and all but the entry-level active models now get a 10-inch central infotainment screen, rather than the old car’s 8-inch system.

The in-car tech gives you plenty of driver assistance and tech options like an adaptive cruise control which stops and starts in traffic jams is a nice touch. The eye-catching dashboard features are adorned with plush materials and, in some versions, ambient interior lighting.

Engine and Drive

As a car primarily designed for town and city driving, the Peugeot 3008 ticks most of the boxes. The 3008 offers drivers a selection of engines; first is the small turbo petrol (128bhp 1.2-litre Puretech) and similar turbo diesel (128bhp 1.5-litre BlueHDi) which uses a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. Another option in the combustion engine lineup is the 1.6-litre BlueHDi 120PS with an official fuel economy of 70.6mpg. This 1.6litre boasts a smooth and powerful drive, available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed auto.

Then there are a pair of hybrid engines – foremost is the front-wheel drive version which possesses 222bhp, then a four-wheel-drive Hybrid4 300 engine with its 296bhp of total output. The 225 and the 300 trims come with a 1.6-litre petrol engine supported by an electric motor. All are front-wheel drive, apart from the Hybrid4.

On the road, the Peugeot 3008 is impressive. While it’s no sports car, the 3008 is perfectly fine on the motorway and there’s very little in the way of road noise beyond a tiny bit from the tires. As you’d expect, fuel consumption is light.

Is the Peugeot 3008 a Good Car?

The 3008 makes its extra size and height feel genuinely useful without taking up too much room or being hard to manoeuvre.
