Renault Scenic E-Tech 2024 Review

Renault Scenic E-Tech 2024

The Renault Scenic E-Tech meets the high standard of the electric family car category and makes efforts to go above it.

In this review…

The Renault Scenic is a name we’ve not heard in a long time. A stalwart of the 90s, the original lineage of the Scenic was discontinued in 2022, but the vision for a quality, stylish and safe family car lives on in the new Renault Scenic E-Tech.

Now, the name has returned triumphantly with the all-new Scenic E-Tech 2024, evolving from its roots into a car that defines quality, style, and safety for the modern family. Though the Renault Zoe and Twizy marked Renault’s initial forays into electric vehicles, the Scenic E-Tech feels like they have truly hit the nail on the head.

However, the EV family car is already headed up by the VW ID.4, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and Skoda Enyaq. Can the revitalised Renault Scenic E-Tech compete? We look at the car from all angles to find out.

Design

Leveraging the Renault Megane’s architecture, the Scenic E-Tech has grown in both size and ambition. The front end dazzles with a pattern-heavy bumper and exploding grille, while the daring headlights scream high-tech. It’s taller, more muscular, and features unconventional, flat-faced wheels that might just make you feel like you’re starring in an episode of “Pimp My Ride”. Completing the sleek look are the flush-fitting door handles – every detail speaks to a car designed for the future.

Interior

Inside, the Scenic E-Tech feels like a meticulously crafted haven. Every material is chosen with care, ensuring a balance that feels neither excessive nor cheap. The frosted glass sunroof with electrochromic technology transitions from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button, catapulting you centuries ahead in comfort and style. The cabin features six sockets, a wireless charging pad, and a 12-inch infotainment screen angled towards the driver, enhancing usability and connectivity.

EV Performance

Under the hood – or more aptly, the floor – the Scenic E-Tech packs an 87kWh battery, offering a range-topping 380 miles on a single charge. Its advanced battery chemistry and smart charging features, including preconditioning on approach to chargers, allow it to support an average of 110kW over 30 minutes of fast charging, starting from 20%.

Drive

Driving the Scenic E-Tech is an experience in reliability and futuristic mobility. Its low driving position contrasts with the typical SUV, offering a refreshing proximity to the road. The ride is firm yet comfortable, with quick steering and taut suspension. Accelerating from 0-62mph in eight seconds and with a weight of around 1,800kg, it showcases nimble handling that adds a spring to your step.

Is the Renault Scenic E-Tech A Worthwhile Car?

The Renault Scenic E-Tech is an incredibly appealing car. Voted the European Car of the Year for 2024 for good reason, it offers a compelling package of futuristic design, environmental consciousness, and practical innovation. This car meets the high standard of the electric family car category and makes efforts to go above it.
