Seat reveals new Ateca

Seat has revealed its all-new SUV at the Geneva Motor Show.

The Ateca is the first SUV model for the company as the car maker attempts to benefit from the growing demand for urban sports vehicles.

Pre-orders for the Ateca will be taken from spring and buyers will be able to choose from a number of engines, including turbocharged TSI petrol and TDI diesel options. Seat is also offering front-wheel or all-wheel drive models, as well as manual or dual-clutch DSG transmissions choices.

There will be a number of high-tech options available, including Traffic Jam Assistant and Emergency Assist, as well as an infotainment system with eight-inch touchscreens.

Drivers may also be tempted by the ambient lighting feature that comes with a choice of eight colours so it can be altered depending on mood.

"The Seat Ateca is perfect for an urban lifestyle. It possesses stunning design and dynamics, and boasts compelling quality and utility. But above all, the Ateca exudes unmistakable character," explained Luca de Meo, president of Seat.

He added: "Our first SUV marks the start of a new era for Seat. The Ateca is a clear development of the Leon DNA and will drive forward the success of the range. Seat is a brand on the move."

It is expected the base model will cost from £17,990, but further details of pricing will be released at the start of May.
