Motorists looking for fuel efficient environmentally-friendly Vauxhall deals may need to look no further than the new Astra 2.0 CDTi Start/Stop Hatch.
Vauxhall has added its Start/Stop technology to the new model to improve fuel consumption and reduce CO2 emissions while giving its customers value for money.
The new technology means the latest Astra model can manage 5mpg more than the outgoing version on the combined cycle.
Motorists will be interested to hear that the engine in the new Astra automatically stops when the driver engages neutral and releases the clutch pedal, sending it into "Autostop" mode.
When the vehicle needs to move away again, the driver simply presses the clutch to re-start the engine and engages first gear.
Start/Stop is also available on the latest addition to the Astra range, the Sports Tourer, which benefits from an equally impressive 4.7mpg rise on the combined cycle, from 55.4 to 60.1mpg.
The new Astra also uses Vauxhall's CleanTech Combustion Technology, which guarantees exceptionally clean combustion and reduced engine noise.
