Vauxhall's Ampera model has proven a big hit for a company considered an electricity pioneer.
Edmundson Electricity was among the first organisations to supply electricity and is a distributor of electrical equipment – and it has now turned its attentions to the car manufacturer's electric vehicle design.
The company has taken delivery of three Amperas – and electric vehicle fans may wish to follow in its footsteps by checking out the latest and best Vauxhall deals.
Jo Ellis, Barking office branch manager at Edmundson Electrical, has already clocked up 4,000 miles in his
new car after having electric vehicle facilities set up at his work and home.
A second motor is to be driven away by branch manager of the St Helens office Danny Fegan, while a third will be delivered to the Twickenham branch.
Paul Adler, fleet marketing and motability manager at Vauxhall, said the manufacturer is delighted that its Vauxhall design is being used by a firm with such a great heritage.
Mr Adler stated: "I am confident that the company will continue to enjoy the versatility, durability and fuel savings from their Amperas."
The Amperas are likely to get plenty of use with the electrical firm, especially as Mr Ellis has a daily commute of more than 35 miles between his home and office. The branch manager explained the Ampera offers all the benefits of an electric vehicle with the added bonus of E-REV technology, which should serve to eliminate any issues such as range anxiety.
Over the four years that the car is to be used as part of Edmundson Electrical's fleet, it is likely that Mr Ellis' vehicle will cover around 100,000 miles, with some days requiring that he makes a 500-mile trip.
Mr Ellis stated: "Colleagues and friends have also commented on how smooth and quiet the electric motor is and were surprised that it feels like a normal car."
It was recently revealed that construction company the Eric Wright Group is also using the Ampera as part of a four-year test case – and it is hoped the move will help to reduce the firm's annual CO2 usage.
