Vauxhall success in December sales

Motorists looking for Vauxhall deals will be interested to hear that the manufacturer had its most successful December on record.

Figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders revealed that Vauxhall sold 16,548 cars in December, which put it in top spot for the month, 2,600 vehicles ahead of its nearest competitor.

The Vauxhall Astra ended the month as the brand's top seller with the Vauxhall Corsa in second spot, selling 5,377 and 4,737 respectively.

Duncan Aldred, Vauxhall's managing director, said: "This has been a great way to end 2010, and proves that we're back on track with a strong sales performance in both fleet and retail sectors."

The latest figures rounded off a good year for the Astra and Vauxhall in general as Astra sales exceeded 80,000 for the year and the Insignia and Zafira led sales in their respective sectors.

Mr Aldred added that both the new and old Vauxhall models were proving popular with customers and he predicted an even better year for the manufacturer in 2011.
