The signing of a new deal has shown Vauxhall continues to be the car of choice for police authorities in Wales.
As a result of a successful tender submission from the Welsh police, the carmaker will continue providing the force with vehicles until 2014, while there is also an option for the authorities to extend the agreement for a further year.
Ray Forsey, fleet manager for the South Wales Police Authorities, noted: "Vauxhall provides fit for purpose high-quality products at a competitive price."
People on the lookout for the best Vauxhall deals may therefore be pleased to know the brand they are hoping to go with is also favoured by the police.
Mr Forsey added: "North Wales Police will also be working closely with Vauxhall's Special Vehicles to provide a specific containment cell in the Astra Sports Tourer so that the Welsh Police Authority can fully utilise their vehicles."
A total of around 9,000 new cars are to be supplied by Vauxhall to police authorities in the next four years – making it the largest such distributor in the UK.
In addition, the new contract also means low and intermediate performance vehicles from the carmaker will now be used by 41 of the 52 police services in the UK, which represents 80 per cent of the nation's total.
Dick Ellam, special vehicles manager at Vauxhall, explained the brand's approach to the supply chain has been key to the success of the group's deals.
The majority of the supply is carried out in-house, with the only outsourced element being the vehicle's delivery to the customer.
As a result of this method, the company is able to make savings for police fleets with regard to time lengths for bringing motors into service.
The signing of the contract means Dyfed Powys Police, South Wales Police, Gwent Police and North Wales Police will all be supplied by Vauxhall, while the arrangement sees the carmaker providing Movano Police Protected Support Units.
