Volkswagen models exempt from congestion charges

Drivers looking for Volkswagen deals will be interested to hear that the new Polo BlueMotion and Golf BlueMotion are exempt from the London Congestion Charge as well as road tax.

Under changes to the rules governing the congestion charge, vehicles emitting less than 100g/km of CO2, which meet Euro5 standards are no longer required to pay the £10 daily charge.

Volkswagen's Polo BlueMotion (91g/km) and the Golf BlueMotion (99g/km) are both eligible for the discount, making them even more affordable to run for motorists.

All BlueMotion variants feature a series of subtle modifications aimed at maximising efficiency including optimised aerodynamics, low rolling resistance tyres, Start/Stop, battery regeneration and longer gearing.

The innovations put less strain on the engine which leads to lower emissions and greater economy.

Last year a BlueMotion vehicle broke the Guinness World Record for the longest distance travelled on a single tank of fuel, achieving 1,527 miles, further indicating Volkswagen's value for money.
