Volvo has revealed two new concept cars as it attempts to increases its share of the small car market.
Each of the new vehicles will be based around Volvo’s new Compact Modular Architecture (CMA), which has been designed especially for more compact cars.
Thomas Ingenlath, senior vice president of design at Volvo Car Group, said: “Each member of our product family has its own distinct character, just like the members of a real family. CMA has helped us to capture something special, something youthful in our new concept cars.
“They have an energy, a disruptive and engaging urban character that makes them stand out among the crowd. This is the flavour of small Volvos to come.”
Volvo are also planning a new pure-battery electric vehicle as it attempts to gain ground in the eco-friendly sector. The Swedish company is hoping to sell around one million electric-powered cars by 2025.
