Audi introduces in-car filters

Audi has confirmed a number of its new models will be fitted with an improved air conditioning filter to decrease allergens.

The new filters will be fitted on the Audi A1, A3, Q3 and TT from next month, as well as being fitted as standard on the forthcoming Q2 later in the year.

Owners of existing cars will also be able to have the air filter retro-fitted if they so desire.

Audi believes the filter will ensure a healthier cabin for drivers and passengers. Standard air-condition filters usually offer two-layer filters, but the new Audi option will have three layers to ensure a greater anti-allergen effect.

Tesla has also recently announced plans to use an advanced filter in its updated Model S that will be on sale before the end of 2016.
