Jaguar Land Rover sees record January sales

Jaguar Land Rover has reported its strongest January sales on record.

Jaguar Land Rover has just seen its best ever January in terms of retail sales, with 46,016 vehicles sold, 24 per cent more than in the same month last year.

Land Rover had its strongest January on record, with unit sales rising by 20 per cent year on year to 38,075.

The Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport were the top-selling ranges, shifting 9,729 and 9,486 models respectively, while the Defender marked its last month of production with its best January performance in over ten years.

Jaguar's 7,941 sales, a 44 per cent increase from a year earlier, marked the brand's best January return since 2005.

This was partly driven by ongoing strong performance by the XE range, which sold 3,673 cars.

Regionally, Jaguar Land Rover saw the biggest year-on-year sales increases in Europe (65 per cent), the UK (36 per cent) and North America (nine per cent).

Andy Goss, the luxury vehicle manufacturer's sales operations director, said:
"Following our best full-year global sales in 2015, this is a great start to the new year, with very strong performance from both brands and across all of our key regions."
