MG plans first SUV model

MG has confirmed the UK debut of its first ever SUV at the forthcoming London Motor Show.

The media was given a sneak peek at the SUV at the Shanghai Motor Show at the start of the year, but this will be the first time the GS will be shown to the British public.

It is expected MG’s new crossover SUV will be a firm rival to existing models such as the Nissan Qashqai, Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage. Although, MG has yet to confirm the retail price of the new model.

Head of sales and marketing for MG, Matthew Cheyne, said: £We’re extremely proud of the GS, so we’re looking forward to unveiling it and speaking to attendees of the event about how easily it will fit into their lifestyle. I can assure potential customers that it will be consistent with the MG-family pricing strategy.”

The car is expected to go on sale in the UK as early as next month.
