Mini plans first hybrid model

Mini is set to launch its first plug-in hybrid model before summer.

The Mini Cooper SE Countryman All4 is now available to order and delivery to the UK is expected from 24th June 2017.

BMW eDrive components have been designed for the car, which will make use of a three-cylinder petrol engine and electric motor to produce an output of 224hp.

The car is expected to cover 0 to 62mph in around 6.8 seconds, but will offer users an average fuel consumption of 134.5mpg.

On pure electric mode, the car will have a top speed of 78mph and a range in between charges of 25 miles.

Prices are expected to start from £31,585 for the base model, although this does not include the government plug-in car grant.
